Program Overview

MiND works to protect children from abuse, neglect, exploitation, and violence while promoting safe, supportive environments that uphold children’s rights, dignity, and well-being in Sierra Leone.

Many children face protection risks due to poverty, harmful practices, weak protection systems, and limited awareness of children’s rights. MiND collaborates with communities, schools, and local institutions to strengthen child safeguarding systems and ensure children grow up in environments that promote safety, care, and opportunity.

This program integrates child protection with education, psychosocial support, and community engagement to address both prevention and response to protection concerns.

Key Activities

Child Protection Awareness and Prevention

Community sensitization programs raise awareness about children's rights, child protection laws, and harmful practices such as child labor, early marriage, and abuse.

Safeguarding Systems

MiND supports schools and communities to establish child protection committees and safeguarding mechanisms that protect children and ensure early reporting of protection concerns.

Case Identification and Referral

Children at risk or survivors of abuse are identified through schools and community structures and referred to appropriate health, legal, and social welfare services.

Psychosocial Support for Children

Counseling and resilience-building activities help children recover from trauma, strengthen emotional well-being, and rebuild confidence.

Capacity Building for Parents and Caregivers

Parenting education sessions promote positive discipline, child development awareness, and nurturing family environments.
